This game is ridiculously fun but I do have suggestions for the controller support. I would like to be able to walk with the dpad and I would prefer to left click with L1 instead of r2. I like moving the cursor with the right analog stick. I hope the final version has customizable controls. Either way day one purchase for me
God dammit I've already player more than 10 hours on Steam with this short prototype and I'm loving it! Do you have any idea when it could be released?
I adore the artstyle and really like the gameplay so far (just played the demo on steam)
But I am colorblind and it is really hard to differentiate between the higher rarity cards into exploration vs combat decks.
I'm guessing what is grey to me is greenish and redish for non-colorblind people. It would be nice if they had a diferent border, texture or maybe like one corner is folded over for exploration cards.
I would also love if the amazing artteam would use what they already do to make cards look unique (the border of the card being different, like for the scream card, the card being mossy for the moss regions) to uplift visual clarity. Legend of Runterra cards give you a direct visual if this is a skill, attack, food or mood and something like that would help the game a lot I think.
But the big thing for me is the color-blindness, because especially with food I often don't know which deck I'm adding it too.
Yeah, I noticed that too! I sometimes was confused which deck I was adding cards to, even without being colorblind. Different areas will add a colored filter according to the light, which impacts this. Putting some kind of unique border or symbol would solve this.
I think they actually solved it in the list update to the steam demo! The combat cards now have "ear"-corners and also the different types have very good visual indication now (skills moods attacks foods etc) :)
I LOVE THE GAME. I'm just here to mention a bug I found. If you use the frog pick while having itchy fingers it doesn't draw 2 cards. My assumption is that it try's to draw 2 cards when it pulls up the forget a card menu.
[TR/ENG] ENG : It's similar to games like Inscription, Hades, and Dungeon Crawler, where you collect power-ups and cards to move forward and complete the game. Most of the time, it's a good idea to focus on one card and make it better. I tried to finish the game, but I got stuck on the "Final Stage?" part of the final boss and couldn't move on. If you play your cards right and strategically, you've got a good shot at winning. I suggest taking a look at the monsters' perks before each round starts. Best of luck to all of you.
ENG note : I usually enjoy commenting on games and informing other users, but I have nothing to say about this game because it is truly one of the best dungeon games I have ever seen. The atmosphere and everything else are better than in "Inscryption." I never thought a card game could hook me this much. With everything going on in my country, game prices are always out of my price range. I think this game is gonna be awesome, so I'm gonna start saving up now so I can get it when it comes out.
Great game! Love the visuals. I played it a few times and beat the last boss in one turn on final run. My mace gained 2 energy on kill while staying in hand after attack and did over 130 dmg and I had scythe hitting 3 times for a lot of dmg and 5 vulnerable so all the minions were killed in one shot to get the energy cards and then just using mace again. Deck was minimized to have all cards in hand every battle.
added to my collection to play later but I wanted to comment right away, this is such a unique idea. This is really really good stuff man. Can’t wait to try it
This has the beginnings of being a great deck-building rogue-like, some of my own critiques are:
* The game has a major balance issue, the cards which can attack all enemies (especially the scythe) are overpowered especially when paired with 'If Fatal increase damage'. Once acquired the run essentially becomes trivial as that one card can one shot any enemy in the game including the end boss.
* The first mole store shows up too early, before you have ample time to collect food or picks to buy anything but the lowest cost item.
* Frog statues should allow forgetting cards in your exploration deck too.
* Is the map really necessary as a card? All it does is take up a space in the hand and is never used.
* There needs to be a mechanic which can reduce the energy cost of cards, a lot of cards I would consider using if their energy requirements could be lowered. Either that or you could get a 'guts' card when you beat a boss to increase your overall energy.
Overall I think this is a fantastic demo, I've beaten it a few times now and that's just my overall feel of it at the moment.
Absolute masterpiece although i will say that i feel like the choices on which door you go through should be more impactful (although I'm sure you guys are already working on that ) Fantastic game though will buy on steam (the deck also gets really cluttered really fast sometimes i know about the frog and all that but i would love to in the future see more ways to remove cards from my deck)
This is a very fun and great game from both gameplay and stile perspectives, there is just something great about stacking abilities with funny-looking maces and soups, while looking at the most horrendous creature known to man (without even knowing where you are, because your map-holding fingers are cut off)
But I would like to tell two complaints or issues or something (maybe leaving a comment on itch is not the best way, but I couldn't figure any other way out):
When I alt+tabbet out of the game (on windows), while it was loading, graphics glitched out and I couldn't close the game or open the task manager (or at least the screen wouldn't display it) and the game stuck loading
It is very easy to make infinite damage and infinite energy and I don't know if it is intentional or not, so sploires ahead for a method that I found, I gues:
I don't remember the names of the cards, but essentially, if you combine the passive card that deals dammage whenever you eat with any way of drawing cards, when you eat (I found the devil's soup or passive that draws a card when you heal past full health) and you draw all of your deck (which happend without me fithout even thinking about it) then when you eat a non-consume food, you draw it again. Combined with the fact that a lot of multiple-use or essentially infinite-use foods cost 0 energy and some even generate it, not even the cosmic horror could stop you (also if you pop the supressed rage into the sceme, it also becomes very quick). Now that I wrote it all out, maybe it is not "very" easy, but I have managed to do it without knowing, what I was doing (on my second run, I think), but anyway, hope you all the best, your game is great!
Mac player here (M1 Max), played the Steam Demo a lot, loving the game. I had no issue with camera movement or bugs. Good luck on the balancing and release!
cool game, but please fix the performance. i used to play this on a laptop and could play it just fine. idk what you did with this newest version but my pc becomes a ball of searing heat. i tried to beat it twice and always god a bluescreen before i got to the end because my pc was so hot. i never get a bluescreen. that sucks when you can't save (afaik). i don't get how it's melting my pc from looking at a hallway and three enemies.
also i need to borrow this reply section my comment won't go through otherwise
Bugs At least for me opening locks of the doors was completely broken causing punches to deal no damage to me and making itchy fingers unusable seemingly something is wrong with communicating to the cards that a door was opened as shown with the starting key being very hard to get rid of another side effect of this was me being able to keep the gloom key after opening the ending door you guys must really want us to keep our gloom keys first you can punch the ending door open now you just keep your gloom key i'm certain this ties into the lore

Loved the game and adore the hell out the art and little details. I can't help but feel some inspiration or something adjacent art-wise to darkest dungeon and have to say that it is one of my favorite art styles. You have made me a fan and will be following you guys and playing your demo more!
Huge props to the dev—and I can't wait for a full release!!!
idk if this is a game bug or an issue with my hardware; but when i have the game running and i click onto somthing on my other monitor, the game turns black and exits. if i click back on the game it returns to where it was after a second.
Not sure if you're still updating this version, but I just discovered a soft lock with the first boss you meet that explodes. After using loving parasite on it, I left it on 1 HP where it immediately explodes after ending my turn, and I got parasite back, but it went into my discard pile instantly. Then, I think the game got confused about what the state was, and never drew my next set of cards. It was quite unusual, as this was my first softlock after so many runs.
I had lots of fun, did more than a handful of runs. Recommended the demo to some people. Wishlisted.
Couple of notes.
1. The lockpick economy is off big time, would love to see more uses--too many lockpicks can brick your exploration hand. If possible, maybe add a keychain card to stack them? Too many picks can just ruin your draw.
2. I don't understand the draft reward for completing a run.
3. Would love to see some borrowed features from Monster Train. The opt-in toggle feature for fights to increase rewards mainly: it adds difficulty & adds a catch-up mechanic. The completionist in me also would appreciate a record of cards used in runs.
4. Dig has some great synergies with tinkie box, scavenge, the splinter shovel, etc. Rest doesn't. The cup of cocoa didn't seem to pay off enough, plus I don't always want to rest for 2 energy meanwhile digging is at worst harmless since you can skip the choice if you don't like the cards. Would love to see exploration synergies expanded upon. The evolve cards are fun.
5. The Truffles are good but they're not close to equal. Once I get the everlasting truffle I don't prioritize it anymore.
6. Could Flash be an exploration card too? A unique split type: combat/exploration? Use it to blind the shopkeep & steal an item? Uncover hidden secrets, warnings, tips? Liking the dark setting & art, neon glow in the dark writing seems like it'd fit.
7. Ran into some map issues, hovering over certain paths randomly broke midrun.
I would love to say, I've enjoyed this game for the past 20 hours I've played so far. I'd say I 100% the demo and I'll say the game is fantastic so far. I have had a few issues where I had no reason to pick certain cards because of bugs. Some items that claim to give a card upon use, do not give another card. One major bug was the wrecking ball. I assume it is used to destroy a camp so you can replace it with another, AND you get an extra card. The issue is, it does none of those things, or at least for when I played. Currently, I find no use for the wrecking ball which is a bummer as it would be helpful for situations where I have 3 camp cards. Other than the bugs, it only provided a small pushback to my run and did little to impact my enjoyment of the game (Other than avoiding using the wrecking ball). I would love to recommend this game to anyone who loves roguelikes, fantastic audio, mystifying visuals, and a nice challenge in every run to your deck builder!
The game looks great. Visual style is definitely the strongest point, but gameplay is good too. It's hard to say more based on the demo, but very Slay the Spire. The sound effect could be stronger.
Love seeing how far this has come since the jam fest drop. What were whispers have become a living breathing entity that is still, only getting better.
Second in the line up. You know I'm not always a huge fan of hallway dungeon crawls. But it works, there's enough going on here it works for the design, I really like the exploration being it own phase and deck. And I wonder what sort of lore laying around here. Good work its on the wishlist.
I enjoyed the demo. It has tremendous cinematic value. In its current form, the game is also compatible with hundreds of controllers, because if you take the keyboard/mouse defaults, and plug them into JoyToKey, the game will not interfere with layouts. In this case, I used a Duke controller. Using a mouse is slightly more comfortable, but I appreciate the degrees of freedom that allow me to do this.

this game is awesome but you should allow us to bind the scroll wheel to move forwards and backwards then you can chill and play with one hand
great idea! wouldn't have thought of that but yes!

Played this game on stream yesterday and I've got to say, IT IS GREAT! Such a nice refreshing take on a Deckbuilder with awesome art to boot.
I'm glad to see this developing into a complete game, because it would be a shame if it wouldn't have :D
My only suggestion: While targeting an enemy, display damage numbers on the enemy somewhere, that take applied effects (e.g. vulnerable) into account.
added to my collection to play later but I wanted to comment right away, this is such a unique idea. This is really really good stuff man. Can’t wait to try it
So Ive played this game A LOT these past view days and i think i have encountered my first game breaking bug;
after restarting from the paused menu when I click the backbag in the beginning it disappears but im not being shown the cards so i cant take them.
I cant move or do anything other than looking around after triggering this bug.
Anyway love the game cant wait for it to come out I think the game will be massive :)
Note: This probably isnt relevant but im playing the steam demo version.

Awesome ! This is some high quality demo.
Even tho I would add some feedback on damage hit
Just started posting links to itch.io
i loved this game so much and excited to see where this goes :)
Thanks so much for playing and sharing!
no worries i sent you guys a DM on tiktok about something btw :) same name as on here
Loved the new update! With each update the game has gotten better and better! Can't wait for the full release!
Thanks so much for keeping up with the updates. So glad to hear you're enjoying all the improvements and additions!
Love seeing how far this has come since the jam fest drop. What were whispers have become a living breathing entity that is still, only getting better.
seriously addictive
Short, but fantastic game. Very strong Inscryption vibes, in terms of both atmosphere and music. Ate my way through the final boss. Lots of fun.
great design I really enjoyed it
this was awesome
I managed to get staple diet to draw another staple diet over and over for infinite max health!

is possible to run this in winlator?
a linux version would be awesome, works pretty good with wine though
This was great! I love when games let you break them wide open, I can you've played Inscryption :)
