For me the half life revive card (lizard tail equivalent) didn't work the first time I picked it, so I didn't pick it again since then. Other than that it is already a very enjoyable expansion to the jam version.
I do think that balancing is nonexistent as of now, winning a run comes down to what cards you get in the first 2-3 rewards and if you can scale them up fast.
Did I miss something or is it really hard to remove cards from the combat deck?
Anyway great job on the game, I like the aesthetics on the beginning when the dungeon seems to be more alive. And the color tint variations make it more interesting :)
A small note on the sounds, for me combat music cuts off sometimes abruptly, sfx are always there but the bg muic has some issues. Also when in combat my cards are not disappearing when I hit end turn only when it is my turn again and I try to click one of them from the last round.
I would love to see an auto-save system at the end of combats or something, even if a run is not long, it is sad to leave a good build behind when I don't have enogh time to finish in one go.
also the main boss is ridiculous. There is no way to beat this shit man. Getting there is way too slow, and it is so boring to start over all the time. Dealing like 50 dmg and 2-3 psychosis every turn is just not fair I mean I started with a lot of health and I didn't get any attack cards in my hands for 3 turns. I mean the difficulty jump is insane compared to the other enemies.
Okay I beat it after like 20 runs. I managed to softlock myself with the toad lake. Also for me Bashing with the foresight is not healing me 3 health ever - and even the rage is not appearing.
Needs balancing but holy cow is this game neat. So unique to look at and the sounds and music are awesome. I'll share this with everyone I know, I really hope you guys get to make a full game!
I remember watching aliensrock play this a while back and thought it was nice then and gotta say it looks even better now. Unfortunate that I managed to softlock myself on both of my runs but makes sense given it is WIP, i think adding some button to reset the current room would be welcome addition during development, since replaying the whole thing if this keeps happening could be quite tiresome.
Nonetheless, great stuff, can't wait for full proper release
Incredible prototype. I can't believe this was made in 3 months! You guys have amazing potential as a team, the efficiency is off the roof, and the quality is incredible too!
I did notice a few bugs like some cards not updating when ATK buffed, or some sfx don't play, but overall it is an incredible game, with unique (in a good way) mood, and feeling. Very addicting too, and this is the first roguelike I ve played that allows you to control your own health while playing to this amount! The cards are also fun, hopefully with more content this level of enjoyment is kept (IMO definitely allow the player to unlock extra card stuff as they go on, to allow them to see this version of the game that has this very compact level of deck building, might get harder with more cards from the start)! Great stuff guys, incredible little prototype. I am very inspired to see this level of quality in such a short dev time. I ll be watching this space
Works great on M3 Pro MacBook. Only bug I noticed was that some text on cards has black behind it making it hard to read. I love the concept and design though and hope to see it on Steam someday!
Shroom And Gloom is one of the best titles I've played in the roguelike genre. The game is very challenging and, after many attempts, I only managed to get past the first boss. I like the art and the gameplay. It could just be better optimized since it's a relatively light game, but it makes my computer lag when I restart the game during the map's intro. Other than that, it's an excellent game with huge potential.
"I really enjoy this game, but there are some bugs along the way.
1.The practice dummy skips the second upgrade option when two upgrade options appear, making it impossible to upgrade. The first upgrade option is an attack skill card, and the second one was supposed to be an attack card, but for some reason, it turned into an exploration skill card when I made the choice.
2.After this happened, I went to the next level and found that all my attack cards were missing, only food and passive attack cards still remain, which led to my death.
Lastly, I want to thank you for creating this game. If it were available on Steam or other game platforms, I would definitely buy it! My budget is around $10-15. I'm from Taiwan, so I can't offer a very high price.
I found the game very interesting and am excited about its future. I plan to buy it once the full version is released.
However, I tend to get motion sickness and my eyes tire easily. Especially with "Chromatic Aberration" and "Camera Shake," I quickly felt nauseous and fatigued, limiting my playtime to around 10 minutes per session.
The Chromatic Aberration effect creates a great atmosphere and I really like the graphics it produces.
... I understand this is just a demo. Going forward, I would appreciate it if you could consider adding an option to toggle these effects on and off.
i had the same problem as other people with the black screen and weird errors after extraction but after i changed it to a .zip file from a .7z with https://www.romvault.com/trrntzip/ it fixed itself. so maybe you need to change the compression type. (windows 10)
I played the original game jam version of this game. I was ENTRALLED. I fell in love the world. Building synergy felt good. Feeling the tangible results of your choices felt good. The game was short (understandable, it was a game jam) but it was so satisfying.
This prototype build you're working on. In my opinion is goes beyond and it still feels good but in a slightly different way. I love the changes to explorations. I love the reward system changes. And all the added cards and synergy are very neat. I love the idea of cards with set uses so you can plan out a very strong card before it's gone. Utilizing the practice dummy card of your field cards by milling til you pull it allows you to get crazy. There's so many different approaches.
I'm excited to see this game grow. Thank you for continuing the work on this.
Loved the game when I downloaded the jam version, been playing it on and off for months, really balanced and pretty challenging but still beatable, and the art style, just WOW. Decided to download the new version and I cant stand it, the similarity is practically gone with the cards, gameplay, and art style, fundamentally the art style is still there but the character movements and even some enemies that should be familiar just aren't, I feel like I'm playing an entirely different game. The devs had something going with the one path story line and the cards that the user could get. Imo only thing this game needed from original creation was more truffles, a save function, and a longer story like something after getting the final key, and beyond that different enemies and maybe some additional cards. I'll just keep playing the original version when I feel like playing a deck-builder combat, not touching this version again. Less IS more. This had the potential to be like inscryption and even surpass it, inscryption ruined itself with that pokemon-esque style and all the additional stuff after you beat leshy the first time, and this had the chance to remain with the same art style for enemies, movement, cards, and playstyle. If it aint broke don't fix it. Nothing but love to the devs, just my 2 cents.
Hey! I’m the sole programmer on Shroom and Gloom at the moment. I totally respect your opinion, and agree with your take on the pokemon-esque 2nd act of inscription!
I can understand the frustration, but despite how you feel I’m going to make it my personal mission to make you like this version more than the jam version!
With that in mind, Id love to chat more about what frustrated you. My DM’s are open on the discord.
You’re gonna love our new Pokémon inspired gameplay we have planned.
This game has all the elements that can skyrocket it into a new indie mega hit. The sound effects, art style, and game loop are satisfying and exciting. It's like a new and inspired inscryption. It's a hell of a lot of fun. I hope you get the notice you deserve for this.
Hey! Thanks for directing me to here after I found your game on Tiktok. I've just downloaded 04.15 and after going through the start screen, the 'loading' pulses 3 times then disappears leaving me with a black screen. I've tried to close and run the game as administrator to no success. Do you know what I can do to fix? Thanks!
No menu if I hit ESC, the only thing I can do is move the in game cursor. It is being run on a windows machine yes. I'm not too sure what else I can provide? Happy to record from my end if that helps you? (Sorry that was probably not very useful feedback!)
There is a bug if you have the hard headed card you can spam slam at the door even if it's unlocked to heal infinitely. But besides that great game 10/10 would recommend to deck builder enjoyers
I have found another glitch were if you upgrade the sythe it dosent show it on the card description. Just wanted to tell inform you about the bug. also do you have a shroom and gloom discord?
j'ai eu un bug avec une carte qui soigne et je suis mort en même temps qu'avoir eu l'effet, cela m'a dit que le combat était terminer mais les monstrès étaient encore là et je suis juste passer a travers
Absolutely awesome game, I recently found the Game Jame version and loved it so I was amped to see this released. I would snap up a full version in a heartbeat.
There have been a few bugs (as expected for a prototype, so I don't mean that negatively) but I just beat the Gloom and ran all the way to the end and I can't draw a hand or play a card or anything at the red locked door. I can't tell if this is an intentional end point or not. Usually there'd be a message if that was the end of a demo/prototype so I wasn't sure if this was a glitch.
Same here, I enjoyed a lot the prototype but was kinda confused with that door. The shroom key was the only thing drawn in front of the locked door before the hallway with the actual red lock, so i used it and by that last door had nothing to use.
it's so fun ! a fan since the game jam version. Very laggy on my laptop without gpu after 10ish rooms. I would love some graphical options for low end machines. I had a bug a dozen rooms into the run : i bashed a lock but the door wouldn't open. sad
Thanks so much for playing, and for the comment! Awesome that you've been following us since the jam version!
You have graphic options in your menu! The game actually looks really cool at lower resolutions, and very clean with ambient occlusion turned off. Will run HEAPS better with those adjustments.
Please let us know how that works, or if you're still having performance issues!
Very nice Game, finally a completely new Rogue-Like. I love the mix of the Exploration Cards and the Combat cards. Some bugs ofc, but a nice view of the Game. Game is mostly fluent on an RTX 3070 Ti and no freezes, crashes etc. Art Style is also stunningly beautiful. I'm really looking forward on the 1.0 Version and a Steam version in the Future.
Woah, what an awesome comment to receive! Thank you for playing, and for encouraging us to keep going!
Great to hear that you like the game so much, and that it's running smoothly on your side. Our programmer put a huge amount of effort into optimization, so he'll be very happy to hear that the game ran well on your end!
Thank you for the heads up - we're looking into this! If we can figure out what might have happened, we will have it patched with a new version up soon! Please check back in!
Thank you so much! I think you were playing on the first version we uploaded? We found it was crazy hard, so our latest update made the game a little less punishing! Hope you have better luck on future runs!

dang...this will be one of the goats. I know it. Keep it up guys. I'll be forever patient with this one. Peak gaming
Damn, what a cool comment to get at the end of a long day working on the game. Thank you so much!

pretty good game but it needs more polishing luckally this is just a prototype
i look forward to when the game is more polished :]
This looks incredible, congrats on such an amazing game!!!!
Realmente se ve interesante este proyecto! Estudié Game QA el año pasado y es posible que le haga un seguimiento para mi portafolios ;)

Yesssss! You spuds never let us down!
We loved playing the jam version way back so had to play the new version.
my GTX 960M was on fire, I had to quit it
Our condolences.
Did you try dropping your resolution and disabling ambient occlusion?
XD I Will try! Other Than that I was enjoying the experience! I Will also try a Mouse when I can, the controls are a bit clunky on a laptop now.
我非常喜欢这个游戏,虽然没有中文我还是玩的不亦乐乎,虽然这给我在我理解游戏上给我产生了非常大的阻碍,不过能看到这个团队对这个游戏如此上心,我能玩到更多的内容,为此感到开心
i really want to play it but the file keeps crashing my pc rip
Are you struggling to unzip it? If so, have you tries using 7zip - that usually works fine.
end turn shouldn't be over on the right i dont want to turn camera to end turn
You can hit space!
YES. FINALLY.
Yes! Yes! Yes!

Yes, it did for me. (I used WinRAR to unpack as I seen other people who used 7-zip did not have this problem)

Tried PC version
Got to 'Loading' before going black screen
Hiya! We are awesome of this issue for some players - hoping to have it sorted in future updates!
*aware
Mac os version is buggy, I get a black screen on starting game. I hear background music but nothing just a black screen and the green mouse icon
Thanks so much for the heads up! We're looking into this and will upload an update for Mac soon!

Thank you so much! We've worked super hard on getting the game to this point - it means the world to us getting feedback like this!
We're only going to be making this thing more awesome. Thanks for the encouragement!
okay so idk if i hit a limit or i got too many images in but i cant post my comment with everything, so ill try to reach out through discord

Hi! Thanks for checking the prototype out, and sorry to hear about this issue you're having.
We've not heard of anyone else having this issue in the past - sounds really weird. If you hit ESC does it bring up the menu?
Are you running the game on a Windows machine? Could you give us any other details that might help us figure out what might be causing this issue?
Sorry again to hear about this, but thanks for letting us know. Hope we can resolve this issue for you!

Thanks for the encouraging comment! So glad you're having such a good time with the game!
We are aware of this multi-bash issue, but thank you very much for reporting this. Hoping we'll have this issue fixed in our next update.
Haooy shrooming!

Thanks again for the lovely comment!
I would like to play, but after loading there is a black screen(
same issue, mine just crashed after the loading screen (windows 11, 23H2, OS build 22631.4112)
Thank you for the heads up - we're looking into this! If we can figure out what might have happened, we will have it patched with a new version up soon! Please check back in!
In the mean time you can try run the build with the command line arguments -force-d3d12. eg.
We just pushed a new build that should resolve this issue for anyone that struggled with the black screen. Have fun!
Cool, everything works
Wooooo! Our programmer will be so happy to hear he can take the rest of the weekend off!
Thank you again for the heads up - hope you have a great time with the game!
This game is so cool!!! I thought I was OP but then I got smacked down by some big mushies XD time to try again.
Thank you so much! I think you were playing on the first version we uploaded? We found it was crazy hard, so our latest update made the game a little less punishing! Hope you have better luck on future runs!
For fans of Slay the Spire, and Inscrytion, this is a no brainer! It adds new twists to the genre as well.
Thank you so much! Let's hope more roguelike deckbuilders will discover the game!
Awesome game!!! Loving this game so far, Inspiring buff feels a little too op
Thank you so much! Glad your enjoying the game so far!
Did you find the Inspired buff on enemies too challenging?
This looking amazing so far. I love the visuals! looking forward to the game being expanded.
Thank you so much! We have so many exciting plans for adding to the game in the future!
Top-notch deckbuilder tightly packed with a lot of depth and encrusted with shroomy atmosphere!
